Using Proper Mean Generation Intervals in Modeling of COVID-19

چکیده

In susceptible–exposed–infectious–recovered (SEIR) epidemic models, with the exponentially distributed duration of exposed/infectious statuses, mean generation interval (GI, time lag between infections a primary case and its secondary case) equals latent period (LP) plus infectious (IP). It was widely reported that GI for COVID-19 is as short 5 days. However, many works in top journals used longer LP or IP sum (i.e., GI), e.g., >7 This discrepancy will lead to overestimated basic reproductive number exaggerated expectation infection attack rate (AR) control efficacy. We argue it important use suitable epidemiological parameter values proper estimation/prediction. Furthermore, we propose an model assess transmission dynamics Belgium, Israel, United Arab Emirates (UAE). estimated time-varying [ R 0 ( t )] based on deaths data found Belgium has highest AR followed by Israel UAE.

Time Series Modeling of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Spread in Iran

Various types of Coronaviruses are enveloped RNA viruses from the Corona-viridae family and part of the Coronavirinae subfamily. This family of viruses affects neurological, gastrointestinal, hepatic, and respiratory systems. Recently, a new memb-er of this family, named Covid-19, is moving around the world. The expansion of Covid-19 carries many risks, and its control requires strict planning ...

Modeling of leachate generation in Karaj landfill using HELP model

Background and Objective: The purpose of this study was to use the HELP model to estimate the leachate generation rate and its pattern in a landfill located in the semi-arid region of Iran. Materials and Methods: The input data for the model were collected through fieldwork. To evaluate the accuracy of outputs, the actual amount of leachate production has been measured on-site for 10 months. ...

Modeling and analysis of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic using the classical SIR model

In this paper modeling, analysis and prediction of novel epidemic of COVID-19 are concerned to identify effective spread parameters of it in Iran. For this purpose, the basic susceptible-infected-removed (SIR) model is used which has two parameters: the infection rate and remove rate. The occurrence of several maximum points in the Iranian data and the single peak of the SIR model makes it impo...
